Ingredients:
For marinating:
- Chicken - 10 medium pieces
- Turmeric Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garam Masala - 1 1/2 teaspoon
- Red Chilli Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Lemon Juice - 1 teaspoon
- GInger Garlic paste - 1 1/2 teaspoon
For the Gravy:
- Dry Coconut Grated - 4 tablespoon
- Bay Leaf - 2 small sized
- Black Peppercorn - 10-12 no
- Cloves - 4-5 no
- Star Anise - 1 no
- Sesame Seeds - 1 1/2 teaspoon
- Poppy Seeds - 1 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander Seeds - 2 teaspoon
- Onion - 2 medium sized, sliced
- Garlic - 10-12 no, chopped
- Tomato - 3 medium sized, chopped
Directions:
- Clean the chicken pieces and add red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric powder, lemon juice. Mix well and keep in the refrigerator for half an hour.
- Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, star anise, coriander seeds, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic and saute till the spices change color.
- Add dry grated coconut, onion and cook until the onion gets light brown.
- Add in the tomato and fry for a minute.
- Grind this fried masala with some water to a fine paste.
- Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator.
- Heat oil in a pan, add ground masala paste, add red chilli powder, garam masala and cook for sometime.
- Add marinated chicken pieces, add water, mix well and cook by covering with a lid for 20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked.
